We all like to think we are caning the downhills like Peaty or hitting up the local jump spots in a Cam McCaul style but the reality is there are only a handful of riders in the world who take gravity assisted cycling to that kind of level. Most of us know we have reached our limits when we smash into the landing of the 10ft double or slide down the steepest section of the Mojo with the back wheel locked up. That doesn’t mean next time we go out we won’t be pushing it to take it that little but further than last time. But I’m damn sure that even with a lottery win and time to ride every day you aren't never going to see me on the next Red Bull Rampage. So why don’t those that review and test products and trails bear this in mind eh?

So what if Aaron Chases Dale' can handle a backflip on the cable car jump at Salzburg? I want to know if it can handle my hamfisted attempt and botched landing on the middle ramp at Cwmcarn, answer no... result new back wheel.

The design of Bearclaws SX may be conducive to a 360 table off the highest point on the slopestye but what’ll happen when I go off line at Afan and slam it into a stump?

Riding scared is for those that want honest appraisals of everything in the gravity assisted world of biking but from a level that they can relate to. Sure we know that manufacturers will always use the pros for development and long may it continue but when it comes to parting with our hard earned lets have something meaningful and that relates to the riding the vast majority of us will be doing on or with our new purchase!

We have no allegiance to anyone, we don’t have sponsored riders to worry about, no-one from the industry is funding us, we are just everyday biking enthusiasts like you.
