How to get there:
From Chepstow, take the A48 following the signs for Gloucester, go through Newnham on Severn then take a left A4151 just before the Texaco petrol station. Follow the lane for quarter of a mile and turn left at the sign!
Whats There:
Redhill is split into two separate sections, a national level 4X track and a jump section.
How Much:
£8 full day £5 half day but cheaper for members.
Whats it Like:
For starters don't be fooled by thinking it looks small from car park, the scale of the jumps are only apparent once you've padded up and got close and personal. We hit the jump section first and started on the little table which is about 2 foot high and maybe 12/14 foot long with a triple set of pump jumps as a run up. The beauty of this place which will become quickly obvious to all the dirt jump virgins out there, is that Neil (the owner) has built this place with progression in mind. It means you can hit the tables safe in the knowledge that you can work your way up without having to make the distance first time out.
We started off chicken slow and just kept sessioning it, getting used to the kick off the entry. Craig soon had this one nailed and we moved onto the triples which again go from small to much bigger but most have 3 different entries so vary in distance. They all send you down the hill and onto a wide trail with a few more tables, step ups and berms eventually spitting you out back at the car park. It's not a bad push up so we just kept sessioning the different sets. Craig was nailing the small and medium sets and we were getting more comfortable getting the bike up in the air.

By this time Neil had the uplift running so we piled in and started in the 4x. This venue has been selected for a round of the nationals this year which should give you an idea of just how good this track is. A big wide carving through and down the hill with loads of different lines and jumps, berms, step ups/ downs and ending with two mighty big tables.
While we were fannying about there was a couple of top level racers also sessioning the track and they were absolutey caning it, proving what a track it can be! The uplift was just shuttling up and down so it was straight back in the van for another run time after time, sweating like a glass blower but having a super enjoyable section. A word of warning though, one of our guys took a big off when his tyre flew of the rim on the landing of a step down so make sure your tyres are up to the job and properly inflated, hes still picking the scabs off 2 weeks later!
Worth a trip:
We've been back up for another session since and are planning to join so the answer is a definite yes, for anyone riding downhill or freeride who need to build confidence on the jumps this place is ideal. Also on a side note off riding, the atmosphere is great. Relaxed isn't the word, all riders and watchers (usually with £4k worth of gear) and laid back and enjoying the place. Which makes it easy to come back too.
What's Around:
Theres a cracking chippy in Littledean (1 mile away, turn left from the exit lane) plus a few pubs. Best bet is to stock up on drinks at Tesco in Chepstow, which also has a few sarnie shops, a Greggs bakery and of course for all those caffeine addicts a Coffee No.1 for a pre-ride fix.
